About This Course

Course Projet Management Audit
Instructor  Certified American Academy Instructor

Modern Internal Audit functions have a key role in enabling organisations to deliver projects within cost targets, to the required quality and on time. You will develop greater understanding of how the risk-based audit approach provides the opportunity to improve the organisation’s delivery of projects.

Audits are projects, but rarely are proven project management methodologies used in managing internal audits. Audits are commonly subject to delays, changes in scope, scope creep, resource shortages, and frequent struggles with timeliness. Participants are provided with a basic understanding of core fundamentals for the most common project management techniques.

Core principles from the Project Management Institute framework will be reviewed. The course provides participants with the skills and techniques necessary to embed project management methods into the internal audit process. Formal project management methodologies can help reduce and alleviate many of the struggles with delays, prioritization, scope, and timeliness auditors routinely face. The tools and techniques shared can be immediately implemented in every audit process.

Multiple hands-on exercises are featured in this interactive course along with class participation to provide opportunities for you to practice what you learn. Real life examples of failures and successes of project management will be covered to further the learning process.

Through evaluation of why projects do not achieve the desired outcome and what can be done to avoid common mistakes in project delivery, this course practically demonstrates how internal auditors are able to employ a risk-based audit approach at every stage of the project to support success.

The concepts and use of project management tools, techniques and methodologies are becoming all pervasive. This course addresses project management in the context of projects, including software projects. Using the framework of project life cycle, the course covers various aspects pertaining to (i) project initiation, (ii) project planning and scheduling, (iii) project monitoring and control, and (iv) project termination. For planning and scheduling of projects, the use of project network and estimation of time and cost are covered in detail. Scheduling of projects with resource limitations is covered next.

This course will also cover a range of key projects, common in the majority of organisations, to provide deeper understanding of how to approach auditing these projects in a practical and cost-effective way.

In addition, there will be opportunity to discuss existing project concerns in a safe and professional environment.
